Samsung Galaxy Camera

Its a whole new year!! This would be the first post of the year 2013! Yes, I'm suppose to be blogging about Hello Kitty Town and Din Tai Fung but I've decided to write about those during the weekend as I would have more time.

In the meantime, a short post to remind people that this blog isnt dead yet. The writer is just rather caught up with her internship.

Check out the pictures that was taken last week! Was doing a favour for The Star, Technology section in StarTwo- posing with the latest Samsung Galaxy Camera which is priced at approximately RM1900. The cam looks so sleek, the screen is a mobile look- alike touch screen screen. Nice to see and hold, but I still prefer cameras with buttons:P

Touch screen cam, you can have apps on it and access to internet too!! I think.

Last shot.

Thats all, keep reading! Hope everyone's doing great in this new year!

Thank You 2012

Its the last day of year 2012! Decided to have a thanksgiving post for all the good stuffs that happened this year!!

Thank You God for:

1. My internship in The Star HR!
I'm really having a hell lots of fun interning here. The Star is such a great organization to be in, they really do live up to their slogan "The People's Paper".

2. Sydney!!
After two long years of saving up, I manage to step out of the country for the very first time (no, Singapore doesnt count lol). Love the dairy products and the meats in Aussie! I shall return soon enough. Thank you Kave for accomodating me and bringing me around and also replacing my lost ticket hehe

3. Good results!
I scored pretty good for this two semesters- Distinction/ High Distinction in average:D

4. Hello Kitty Town!
I was looking so cute in that outing pictures (I'll blog about it soon). Damn, my hair sucks. Too bad they didnt had much authentic Hello Kitty meals like the ones in Sanrio Japan.

5. My baby, Danial:)
This year was quite a shitty year for us. Or maybe me. No, us. One of the worst among all 4 years being together due to some reasons. I wanted to call it quits several times and it was as if we were hanging on a thin string of thread. Nevertheless, we still stuck together.

>>Okay, Im too sleepy to jot down every other good stuffs that happened because there were just too many. So thank you, thank you, thank you. May 2013 be a fabulous year!

SMC 30th Anniversary Dinner

I'm so dead if Im caught :P

This year is a great year because I attended many dinners and what not especially towards the end of the year where its the festive peak! Soon it will be Chinese New Year and then I'll get more good food! Anyway, it was my honour to be invited to attend SMC's 30th Anniversary dinner a few weeks back. It felt like a family gathering since SMC people values family ties.

Since everyone was wearing pretty sarees and what not, I decided to clad on my cheongsam. The one and only traditional wear that I have. Time to restock! Shopping for cheap yet good looking cheongsam would have to be around CNY I suppose. Also, I need to get a Baju Kurung.

Bestie w her sis, Lokz.

Theme colours were blue, pink and purple. Really cotton candy- like sweet colours. Lovely!

Table deco,

Bestie and I,

One of the best dinners around for the sole reason that there was a huge variety of food!!! First stall that I check out was the dessert corner, they had tarts, puddings, chocolate cakes, candies, fruits and jelly.

DESSERT CORNER

Nit told me that every year they would have a exotic dish. This year it was the ostrich dish. They bought ostrich eggs all the way from Seremban and got the restaurant to cooked it omelette style, half cooked etc I didnt try the egg because it somehow looked disgusting LOL But I did have a go at the Ostrich Satay! I prefer chicken still though.

Raw ostrich egg, apparently the largest eggs in the world.. after dinosaurs' that is.

Other available stalls,

Performances,

Dinner that night made my tummy happy!! I had fried mushrooms, fried oysters and stay as appetisers (Not in picture).

More performances, Lokini at the far right dancing.

If I've not mistaken, this is Dato' Thambirajah. Pardon me if I misspelled his name. He received his datukship title lately and I feel that he did really earn the title. I was actually very satisfied with his speech, unlike some other speeches by 'famous people' that were lengthy yet empty.

I still remember part of his speech that tells the people that if one becomes a member of the cabinet one day, and if that person in the cabinet cannot make a change given the time of one term or so, we should just give up that position. I totally agree with him because people sitting in the cabinet should be all out and zesty making beneficial change for the people. They shouldn't just continuously sit there just to warm the seats, hanging on just to you-know-what.

The event coincides with his birthday so they had this special firework on display when it striked midnight!

More performances by besties and Lokz,

The end. Hello Kitty Town post coming up next!! Keep reading!

Teh Tarik Place + Deb's 21st Birthday @ Royal Selangor Club

Continuation of my previous post about the Smelly Asses and mum who came up to KL last week to celebrate early Christmas with me. We did a lot of shopping and obviously I broke my budget, only realising the fact when I was counting how much I spent on clothes back in the hotel.

My shopping spree was mainly done at Paradigm mall. But first, we had breakfast at the Teh Tarik Place.

The Teh Tarik Place is rather interesting because of its old school layout yet with a tint of modernization. There was this phrase on the wall that somewhat sounds like this- everything there has been keep original, the ceiling and the air con was recent additions.

Painted on the walls were ways to have tea. One of it would be how Japanese people have their tea, I think they have 6-7 steps altogether just to enjoy a cuppa.

Mum, Naomi and I had their set meals for breakfast. Nasi Lemak + Tea/ Coffee for about RM5+ I think. Not bad for a Nasi Lemak in shopping malls. I actually thought that good Nasi Lemak is on the verge of extinction till I ate this one. Oh, and since nearly every function in my company serves rather good Nasi Lemak, it seems like this dish isnt going anywhere:)

Reb wanted something with chicken so she got this (picture below). The keropok was lemau already, yucks. The good thing about her dish was the fried chicken. It had no fats under the skin! Just really lean chicken wit cripsy skin! Absolute goodness!!

Oh, The Teh Tarik Place serves really good tea!! Love the fragrant tea scent, yummy milky tea!

***

Check out the deco at One Utama, its a world of candies over there!! I love it that malls in KL takes Christmas deco really seriously unlike malls in JB:P

***

Sunway Pyramid has recently had a new tenant! Okay, maybe not so recent but this ice- cream shop is still considered a new addition to the mall. Corne is situated at LG2, same floor as McD, around the ice- rink area.

Japanese ice- cream in fried bun, RM7.90. It comes in several flavours but we chose choco and vanila. If you are a person who loves indulging in fried ice- cream then you would love this dessert! I, on the other hand didnt like the fried-ness of the bread. The oil was rather stinky for me. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the ice- cream!

***
A few days back, I attended Deb's 21st birthday party at the Royal Selangor Club. Its my first time there and gosh, was the place antique! It was a little creepy walking through the Royal Selangor Club because it gives me the "old hospital vibe". To make things worst, that Nit cant stop commenting about how old it was etc haha Dah la Dataran Merdeka is haunted, I had no choice but to tell her to hush.

Check out my outfit for the night:)

Diverting a little, a few pictures of me and my office mates

Coming back to Deb, here's the birthday girl in her blue shimmery dress! Happy birthday Deb!!

The theme for the night was Hollywood. That was the reason I wore black and had my nails coloured Gold!

A picture with Lokini who shared the same pain with me of wearing sharp front shoes:P

With bestie over the registration counter;

The amazing table deco following the theme. Love the balloon man and the paper napkins!

Food was superb!! I love the Chicken cooked with Rosemary and the Salad bar. I was also really happy with the Fried Calamari even if it wasn't hot and crispy by the time we had dinner. They had lamb with mint sauce too! But I thought the lamb that I had during my department's Christmas Do tasted much better because the meat was tender enough and the mint sauce tasted a bit fatty:P

Another picture with my bestie just so you know she's my bestie.

Talking about best friend, the term "best" means crème de la crème. This also means that there is only one, uno, if someone is referring to the term best. Monogamous.

Its just absurb that some people says oh I have so many best friends!! They are all my best friends! I have a best friend in college, a best friend outside college, a best friend at work etc. That defies the term "Best" no?

The stunning sisters

Our take home gift, of which I gave Nit.

"Eat All You Can" Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant @ Parkroyal Hotel

Its Saturday!! I've been intending to blog about lots of stuffs but I just cant seem to find the motivation to write any during the weekdays because of work. Talking about work, I love my job! I had this prior perception that working isnt something enjoyable since everyone seems to hate their job but I am utmost grateful that I have a really fun job even if it does involve mundane things like keying in tedious boring information.

Okay, not too much on work since Im suppose to hush hush till Im actually done with my internship LOL So coming to the main story of this post! EARLY CHRISTMAS at Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant at Parkroyal Hotel!

Smelly Asses came up last week to celebrate Christmas with me! This year would be the first year celebrating Christmas in KL which is awesome because of all the pretty shopping malls. Also, I would have a chance to celebrate Christmas with Danial. Or maybe not.

Bought this voucher online from LivingSocial for an "Eat All You Can" meal for only RM148. I paid RM100 and mum paid the remainder. I considered it an early treat using my first pay (btw, my first pay has not been paid so Im just advancing my accounts).

Found our way to ParkRoyal Hotel which is situated right next to Lot 10. Smelly asses were in the car with me, mum got off earlier to settle some bank things. Long story cut short, she got to the wrong bank, took taxi to the right bank, met up with us at the hotel.

Reservation at noon, and the lunch begins! No, the lady behind isnt a ghost :P

COLD DISH

We had Marinated Japanese Octopus! Didn't try the other 4 selections. Octopus were yummy!! Sweet and cold and the babies were rather big for a baby size octopus. Should have ordered more of this.

SOUPS

I made sure that the soups were for 1 pax, the waiter said yes but it came for 4 pax. Reb loved the Braised Shark Fin Soup with Crabmeat. I decided to give it a pass because I'm not supportive of fin rippings.

I ordered Sichuan Hot and Sour Soup. It tasted rather good when it was hot but when it cooled down it tasted a little funny. I thought that they shouldn't have put in bean sprouts in the soup.

And my genius sister, Naomi ordered the Sweet Corn Soup with Crabmeat which no one drank so they had to take it back LOL She asked why does the soup taste so corny.. err, obviousluy.

BEEF

We ordered only one type of beef since we already had beef the night before for dinner. Ordered was the Sweet Sour Beef I think.

FISH

Crispy Fried Seasonal Fish was superb!! The fish was so fresh till I thought that it was a little wasted ordering it in the deep fried manner. Should have had it steamed! But its was so crispy good that we ordered a second serving!!

PRAWNS AND SCALLOPS

Prawns with Cashew Nuts and Dried Chili, this dish is quite freaky because it had those small bits of Sichuan peppers that once eaten, it "stinks then stings" quoted from Naomi.

Steamed Scallops in Garlic Sauce. I didnt try this because the lump of garlic freaked me out. We ordered this because it was the only scallop dish on the menu.

Deep Fried Prawns in Spicy Salt. I didnt try this either because I was finishing the other dishes that my sisters didnt like:S But this should be good because it was gone rather quickly.

CHICKEN

"Chong Qing" Diced Chicken with Spicy Dried Chili. This was when the father of all horrors begun!! I ordered this dish because apparently its a famous Sichuan dish. I read reviews about it and people mentioned that it was spicy till it numbs your mouth, of which to my err I took lightly.

Naomi took the first bite and she was complaining that it stinks real bad. I dont remember her mentioning about it stinging your tongue. It looked really harmless so I took a small piece of chicken and stuff it in my mouth. The surprise I felt was indescribable!

First, it stinks very much like you just bite on some bunga cengkih. After the horrid taste, it was hot. Not in the spicy chili way but in the numbing the tongue/ mouth way. It was so bad that even after I spit it out the numbness was still there for a couple of minutes despite me gurgling my mouth with tea.

The numbness reminds me of the feeling if some poisonous animal/ insect/ spider stings you. Those Sichuan people would have probably used this for medical purpose too:S

No one could take the Chong Qing dish, not even mum. So we returned it barely touched.

NOODLES

Sichuan Dan Dan Noodles. Tasteless.

We didnt order vegetable because I didnt wanted any. We ordered Deep Fried Beancurd with Dried Chilli too. It also had that Sichuan pepper thingy, but I manage to seperate it from the beancurds though.

DESSERTS

Homemade Fine Beancurd with Wolfberries were fantastic. Really good soy and the wolfberries sauce was really creative! We also had Sea Coconut with Dried Longan and Chilled Longan.

Also, my favourite Chinese Pancake! Crispy pancakes with red bean fillings, yummy.

A close shot of that freaky fellas, numbing manics seriously.

Second round of Crispy Fish!

Only at ParkRoyal Hotel.

This meal was really worth it!! If not for the gallons of soup we drank we could order more items off the menu! Really satisfying meal. If Ive not mistaken this lunch/ dinner " Eat All You Can" would be going on till April next year.

If you miss the offer in Livingsocial, you can still make reservations directly from the restaurant itself but of course the normal un-discounted price applies. It should be around RM55+ per person. I bought the deal for RM148 for 4 pax though! Keep reading, happy weekends!!
